New Eggless Cake Shop franchisees…Taste test seals the deal!

This month, we are very pleased to welcome two new partners in the Eggless Cake Shop franchise as they prepare to open in Harrow!

As long-time friends, and old football team buddies, they understand the importance of team work, but this will be their first time working together, and we couldn’t be more excited about what they’re bringing to the table – and to the cake stand!

With their launch set for mid-April, we were able to catch up with one of the dynamic new duo while his business partner was busy attending his training at Eggless HQ. Jabir helped us learn more about his journey with the franchise so far.

From spreadsheets to sweet treats: meet Jabir!

Pictured below at the Eggless Cake Shop Christmas party, it is clear to see that Jabir was given a warm welcome by everyone at the franchise well before they managed to finalise their location. Originally, planning to open in Ealing, but not yet settled on quite the right site, they leapt at the opportunity to take on the nearby Harrow store when the current franchisee decided to retire.

Neither of the new duo had any experience in retail or cakes before signing up with Eggless. Both partners are professional accountants, but they were already dabbling in property investment on the side. Looking for their next big move, they decided to team up and dive into a business venture together. After hearing lots of positive things about franchising from friends and colleagues, it seemed like the perfect fit — a chance to build something fresh and exciting, but with the added bonus of a proven model to help manage risk and grow steadily.

“There were a lot of opportunities out there we looked at.“ Jabir told me. “Franchising is a big deal, but the big name franchises you usually think about require a lot of investment and aren’t very accessible to most people. They expect you to immediately commit to opening a number of stores, or taking on a whole area. Other food and retail brands were more reasonable, but they just didn’t click with us and what we were looking for.

“The Eggless Cake Shop just had so much more of the right feel we were looking for. Far less corporate, and more like a family business, but at the same time with really great branding. We could easily see how their free-from products would appeal to the demographic of customers in the areas we wanted to open in, but above all we just loved their style.”

What clinched the deal? The taste test, of course!

After several conversations with me, and with Bill from head office, Jabir and his business partner narrowed down their choices to just 2 options, including Eggless. Both of them were cake shops, and both had packages which appealed to them, so really there was only one way to decide between them.

“As part of our research, we went out to stores from both franchises with our families in tow, and bought a selection of their treats. Both were excellent, but Eggless really did stand out. It was a lot of fun, but more than that, too. It’s so important to believe in a product if you’re going to sell it, and now we can safely say we love it as much as our customers will!”

Jabir is already looking ahead to the future as he and his partner plan to open several stores around the capital in the next few years. In fact, the Harrow location isn’t set to relaunch until the middle of May, and he is already scoping out sites for stores #2 and 3#!

“Things move fast in business, so if you believe in what you’re doing and its potential, there’s no point waiting around!”

We’re looking forward to big things from these guys, and will definitely follow up with them later in the year to see how they’re getting on – especially when they’re ready to announce the opening of their next Eggless Cake Shop!
